HVCHS would like to welcome Dave Kern to the staff as the new Director of TECH for the performing arts.
He will be instrumental in teaching students the arts of lighting, sound, and stage construction.
David left Mason Gross School of the Arts to pursue his career as a professional actor. During the next 15 years of his life, he was seen on Broadway, 10 national commercials, 3 feature films, 2 Soap Operas, and a number of television and voice over spots.
He then got into teaching and was hired at the Vocational Technical school for the Performing Arts in Ocean County. He was the acting, vocal music, and tech theatre teacher at the school. He then became the auditorium coordinator for the School District of the Chathams, and, until recently, was the manager of the Performing Arts Center at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge. David has dedicated his life to his passion - which is theatre. David has been fortunate enough to to have pursued his love of theatre on all sides of the theatre spectrum. He loves the stage as a performer, but also as a director. Whether they are on the stage or helping him out on the Tech Crew, He loves to impart his knowledge on all theatre students. He is thrilled to be a part of the Hopewell Valley community and is very excited to be working with the students of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.
David is a single Dad with two beautiful kids. Andi, his 10 year old daughter is the performer and Jack his 7 year old son is Davids ATD and loves hanging in the booth.
